At Pilgrims we inspire a love of learning through our teaching that develops curious, kind, respectful, confident and happy children.
Our curriculum is designed to be as inspiring as it is intriguing – taking an innovative approach to learning that broadens minds while stimulating curiosity, creativity, imagination and enjoyment.
We aim to enable every child to reach their full potential and become confident, independent thinkers and learners.
The results of our approach speak for themselves, with our Early Years Foundation Stage children consistently exceeding national averages for achieving a good level of development.
How do we do this?
Our curriculum is built using a broad range of exciting themes, together with specialist teaching and individualised learning to help every child excel.
Our children learn through play, observation and adult-guided learning – boosting motor and sensory skills alongside core subjects like literacy and maths.
Why do we do this?
At Pilgrims we recognise the importance of not just developing children’s learning and understanding, but their emotional intelligence too.
We promote a growth mindset that reminds children it’s okay to make mistakes – because that’s how we learn.
Through encouraging our children to explore their surroundings and their imaginations, we broaden horizons.
A child’s journey with us
Every child’s journey at Pilgrims is carefully planned, no matter the age they join us. We do this to build on their knowledge and skills and develop their curiosity and confidence.
A child’s journey with us begins at a very early stage, including “tummy time” in Little Toddlers – while also developing areas such as fine motor control, pencil grip, creative free-thinking and handwriting.
In Early Years, we look into story telling and problem solving, encouraging children to talk about their choices and understanding “how” and “why” questions.
Moving into Main School, we build on these experiences and continue to enrich and deepen the children’s love of learning. Our creative, skills-based curriculum includes exploring the plants and creatures that call our school pond home, and a two-night residential trip that encourages team building and leadership.
